CHA Medical Specialties

When you have lung disease or problems with breathing or sleep, even simple activities can be tiring and difficult. Our team can help.

We diagnose and treat a wide range of pulmonary conditions, including asthma, COPD, emphysema and lung nodules. Our doctors and other providers see patients both in the hospital and our outpatient clinics. We also have a sleep medicine program for patients with sleep disorders.

Whether it’s an emergency or help managing a chronic condition, our team can provide the expert care and compassion you need to breathe easier.

Your Care at its Best

The services you need, close to home

CHA offers the same pulmonary care you’ll find in a large Boston hospital, but in your local community. We use a full range of tests and technologies to understand lung conditions. These include tests for lung function and oxygen needs as well as bronchoscopy, where we use a tube to look inside your airways. We can also help you figure out why you’re having trouble with sleep using at home tests or in our full-service sleep lab.

Diagnosing your condition is just the beginning. The CHA pulmonary team will support you at every step to make sure you get the right follow-up care and help you manage your health at home. CHA pulmonary patients who need extra support for COPD and similar conditions can also join Pulmonary Rehabilitation program at CHA Everett Hospital and get education and support for breathing issues.

Critical care you can feel confident about

If you have a medical emergency or severe respiratory problem, the CHA pulmonology team is here to help. A board-certified pulmonologist and respiratory therapist are always available to patients in our hospitals. They will make sure you get expert care, around-the-clock monitoring and any specialized equipment or procedures you need.

The Multispecialty Lung Clinic

CHA Pulmonary Services

Offering complete care of lung disease

Patients with suspected lung disease often need to see several specialists quickly to determine next steps in care. In the past, CHA patients with possible lung cancer would see providers in Pulmonology, Oncology and Thoracic Surgery at separate visits, usually on different days.

Today, they can see doctors from all three areas in our Multispecialty Lung Clinic. With a same day comprehensive review, you can get faster answers and a more complete care plan (which may include more testing, treatment options or, with advanced disease, support from palliative care). The clinic is available at CHA Cambridge Hospital. Patients with lung masses, lung nodules or other changes on a chest x-ray or chest CT that raise suspicion of cancer would benefit. Talk to your provider today for a referral.
