Make a Difference as a Volunteer

Cambridge Health Alliance works every day to help people stay healthy. We care for all - promoting health in our hospitals, care centers and communities. By volunteering, you are part of this important work and become part of the CHA family.

You can make a difference to thousands of patients - people from all walks of life. Volunteering allows you to make connections with professionals, support your community, and gain practical experience.

Volunteer at a CHA hospital, department or primary care location

What volunteers do:

  • Work at our reception areas to welcome and direct patients
  • Escort patients to appointments or exam rooms
  • Help our elderly patients with tasks related to their appointments
  • Provide basic support to help various departments run more smoothly
  • Share your skills to improve CHA

Email Volunteer Services to discuss your interests, skills and find out more about volunteer opportunities.

Patient Experience Programs

CHA’s commitment to health equity, inclusion and improving the patient experience for all starts with listening to you! Become a patient advisor and share important feedback to help us make things better. Whether you join our eAdvisor team, a project focus group, or an ongoing committee, you can make a difference at CHA.

Volunteer Health Advisors (VHAs)

If you are interested in helping to improve the health of communities in this area, the VHA program is a great way to make a difference. VHAs act as a bridge between the community and CHA. They are respected community health workers who have a close understanding of the community they serve. The Volunteer Health Advisor (VHA) program trains and supports volunteers to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate community education for underserved and hard-to-reach populations. This work leads to better access to care and better health, helping to reduce disparities in health care and health outcomes in under-served communities.
