The Training Program in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Cambridge Health Alliance recruits five fellows per year. Interested applicants should submit an application via ERAS by September 15, 2023. Interviews are held September through November. Our program participates in the NRMP match for fellows in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Graduates of national or international medical schools who will have completed at least three years of General Psychiatry and all the ACGME specific requirements for those trainings are eligible to apply.
Only applications submitted using the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) are accepted. Completed applications include:
- The ERAS application
- Medical school dean’s letter
- Medical school transcripts
- Documentation of having passed all USMLE Steps 1 - 3 or COMLEX exams
- Three letters of reference, with at least one from a child psychiatry supervisor
- Curriculum vitae
- Personal statement
- General Psychiatry Program Director Attestation Form for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Eligibility stating all ACGME requirements will be completed in time for transfer to the Fellowship, as well as completion of CSEs
- Applicants who match with our program should have met our requirements for Clinical Skills Evaluations (2 for entering PGY4s and 3 for entering PGY5s).
- Applicants entering the fellowship as a PGY5 must have completed all adult board requirements by July 1, 2024.
- Applicants entering the fellowship as a PGY4 may use their child training to meet the 12 additional month (time only) requirement of psychiatry towards adult requirements.
- Foreign/International citizens who wish to enter the U.S.for postgraduate training must comply with U.S. immigration laws, in addition to the application procedures described above. Cambridge Health Alliance participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and complies with all its rules and regulations.
Appointments generally begin July 1 and last for two years. The program is fully accredited by the American College of Graduate Medical Education for five fellows per year. Fellows in good standing will be eligible for specialty boards in child and adolescent psychiatry provided they have met the other requirements as described by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
All offers of appointment to CHA sponsored training programs are specifically conditioned upon a criminal background investigation and a negative drug test (uses workplace standards, including chain of custody; marijuana is excluded from the testing). Background checks will be carried out by an agency on behalf of CHA. By signing the background check release form, prospective trainees are consenting to a background investigation. The drug test must be completed within 10 days of matching (all costs covered by CHA). It will be conducted at CHA Occupational Health for those residents within 20 miles of Boston. All others will be tested at an outside facility arranged by CHA Occupational Health.
