What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care is a team-based approach to treating serious illness that focuses on the physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Palliative care is appropriate at any age and any stage of illness.

The goal is to prevent and relieve physical symptoms, anxiety and stress that often accompany a serious illness. This may include managing pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, loss of appetite and/or decreased function.
