Protect Yourself from COVID

At Cambridge Health Alliance, our primary goal is to keep you healthy. As we head into the colder months, we want you to have all the information you need to have a healthy winter.

Here are some helpful hints on ways to stay safe and get the care you need, including some updates about our Primary Care services.

Please continue to follow social distancing guidelines. Be careful every time you go outside or invite people into your home. Wear a mask, stay 6 feet away from people, avoid large crowds and always wash your hands.

If you have COVID symptoms or are told you have been exposed to COVID, we are here for you. Please stay home and call us at 617-665-1977 right away. It’s important to get tested and have your symptoms evaluated as soon as possible. Our COVID nurses are here Monday to Saturday, 8 am - 5 pm. If you need help outside these hours, call your regular primary care center and ask to speak to the on-call doctor. In an emergency, always dial 911.

If you are looking for COVID vaccine, check our vaccine information page. Please do not call CHA for vaccine information. We will share information about getting the vaccine as soon as we can.

We know that holiday gatherings are important, but we all have to be extra careful this year. We strongly recommend that you do not travel and do not gather with many people, especially people you do not see on a regular basis. Please remember that COVID tests, like other tests, are not 100 percent accurate. You can spread COVID even if you don’t feel sick. We hope the holidays will look "normal" again next year -- but this year, please find other ways to celebrate. Try getting together with family by video, or invent new traditions in your household.

This year more than ever, it is important to get a flu shot. If you have not gotten a flu shot yet, please call your CHA primary care center to schedule a visit at one of our flu clinics. Or make an appointment yourself using MyChart. Many local pharmacies also provide flu shots. Just remember to call ahead to ask about any age restrictions for children, and make sure that the pharmacy accepts your insurance.

Lastly, please do not wait to get any important medical care you need. If you have a health concern, a question, or need a visit, please call your primary care office or send us a message in MyChart.

You can get an in-person visit or a telehealth visit (phone or video), based on your needs. (Note: at this time, we are not offering annual physicals for people 18-64). In some cases, you may be offered an appointment at a different clinic than you normally go to. For urgent needs you can also visit CHA Urgent Care at our Somerville Campus (33 Tower Street) any day, 9 am - 9 pm.

If you are planning to see us in-person, be aware that we will ask you about COVID symptoms before you come in. This let’s us protect everyone’s health. We also recommend logging into MyChart before your visit to update your information (eCheck-in). This will save you time at the registration window when you arrive! Learn more by reading our eCheck-in guide.

From all of us at CHA, we hope that you and your family have a happy and healthy holiday season. Please know that we are always here for you.
