New MyCHArt features

Whether you are one of the 45,000 patients already using MyCHArt, or are simply interested in learning more about our secure patient portal, you’ll be happy that our 2016 upgrade comes with some new features.

By Brian Herrick, MD, Director of Clinical Informatics.

Here’s what you will see now, and some of what we plan to offer in 2017:

  • Easy sign-up. If you are not yet using MyCHArt, we’ve made it easier than ever to start. Just go to the MyCHArt log-in page and click “enroll now.” You will come to a secure page where you can enter your information and request an access code. This means you can begin managing your health care today.
  • See your care team. Ever forget the name of the provider you saw at your last visit? Your personal MyCHArt home page now lists the key members of your care team.
  • Your care plan, simplified. You now have a “Plan of Care” page that shows your medications, refill requests and health maintenance items all in one place.
  • Information for cancer patients. People undergoing cancer treatment have specialized needs. That’s why we’ve added a “My Condition” page that shows the details of your cancer care plan.
  • Information sharing. Most patients will find all the specialty care they need at CHA. But if you or your child has highly complex needs, we may refer you to another local hospital. You can now give us electronic consent through MyCHArt to share your health information with other providers using the Epic system. This “Care Everywhere” feature works to improve the coordination of your care.
  • Coming in 2017. If you monitor your health on an idevice using Apple Health Kit, you’re in luck. Starting next year this system will interface with MyCHArt. This means your blood pressure, blood sugar values, and other metrics will be uploaded to your medical record, helping your team track your health along with you.
  • While you can currently request an appointment using MyCHArt, you cannot schedule or manage your appointments. But this is coming! We hope to give you the ability to self schedule and manage your appointments in 2017.
