Every year, eight interns are chosen for the Internal Medicine Residency based on commitment to the practice of medicine, interests, life experiences, strength of academic record and their ability to work collaboratively. They traditionally have come from highly regarded medical schools in the U.S.

Applications
Applications are accepted only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Our NRMP code is 1268140M0. Your application must include USMLE scores, dean's letter, transcript and 3 letters of recommendation, one of which from a US hospital where you have completed your Medicine Clerkship/Subinternship. The application deadline is December 15.
Interviews are invitation only. Interviews will be virtual for the 2023-24 season.
The interview day begins the night before with a virtual “dinner” with the residents. The day begins with an introductory group session, followed by individual interviews, an informal “lunch” meeting with current residents, and a discussion with the chief of medicine and chief residents.
We actively recruit minority applicants, are strongly committed to affirmative action and welcome applications from U.S. trained minority medical students. Minority faculty and house officers would be pleased to meet with students considering our program to discuss the quality of training as well as day-to-day life in our community.
Candidates are asked to make a firm three-year commitment. House officers hold appointments as "Clinical Fellows in Medicine" at Harvard Medical School and have access to the Countway Medical and other libraries, and to all University athletic facilities, housing services and other standard amenities.
All offers of appointment to CHA sponsored training programs are specifically conditioned upon a criminal background investigation and a negative drug test (uses workplace standards, including chain of custody, marijuana is excluded from the testing). Background checks will be carried out by an agency on behalf of CHA. By signing the background check release form, prospective trainees are consenting to a background investigation. The drug test must be completed within 10 days of matching (all costs covered by CHA) and will be conducted at CHA Occupational Health for those residents within 20 miles of Boston. All others will be tested at an outside facility arranged by CHA.
