| CHA
provides expert 24-hour emergency care at its three hospital campuses
- Cambridge Hospital, Somerville Hospital, and Whidden Hospital. Each
year, our outstanding team of doctors, nurses, and physician assistants
care for more than 90,000 local patients.
Why are more people choosing CHA in an emergency?
Our Fast-ER Service. CHA has made some important
changes to improve your care and reduce your emergency room wait
times. These include:
- A state-of-the-art patient triage and tracking system, which
allows us to monitor the status of every emergency patient in
real-time.
- Rapid assessment protocols that help us prioritize our work
and see patients faster, without sacrificing quality.
- New staff at all three sites, including highly trained doctors,
nurses, and physician assistants, as well as patient greeters.
- A streamlined patient admission process that helps us get the
sickest patients to a hospital bed sooner, freeing up our time
to see people with less severe health needs.
Emergency Care for Children. We care for children
of all ages at all three hospital campuses. All of our staff are
trained in the care of children, and we have several doctors who
are board-certified and fellowship-trained in pediatric emergency
medicine. The CHA Cambridge campus has special pediatric exam rooms
and pediatric residents from MA General Hospital working on site
24-hours a day.
New Emergency Department at the CHA Whidden Hospital campus.
In 2007, CHA opened a state-of-the-art Emergency department at the
Whidden campus with new waiting rooms, triage areas, and exam rooms.
This important investment is helping Whidden become one of the premier
community hospitals in Eastern Massachusetts.
Psychiatry Emergency Care. The Cambridge Hospital
campus has a separate Psychiatric ER which helps people in severe
emotional distress. The Whidden Hospital campus also has separate
psychiatric emergency rooms. These facilities help us provide better
care to patients, based on their specific health needs.
