OUTPATIENT ADDICTIONS SERVICE (OAS)
The OAS staff includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioner,
licensed clinical social workers, and a licensed drug and alcohol
counselor. We are experienced in both Addictions and Dual Diagnosis
Treatment.
We offer a range of services including:
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Monday - Friday: 9:00 am to 12:00 noon
> Typically a 4 week program. The first two weeks group members
attend every weekday, and the next two weeks attendance is three
times per week.
Outpatient Groups
Offered at various times in day and evening. Most groups require
a pre-screening appointment with the clinician running the group.
> Typically upon completion of IOP program, or for individuals
who have had prior treatment in the past. Most groups require 30
days of sobriety, and include: Relapse Prevention, Anger Management,
Ongoing Sobriety Support and Recovery, Women's Group, and Early
Recovery.
> Groups are also offered for clients in the early stages of
thinking about their addiction with no sobriety commitment.
> Specialty groups include: DBT for substance abusers, Yoga/Stress
Reduction, and a Family Support group.
Individual Treatment
As a service the Outpatient Addictions Service (OAS) has limited
capacity to provide individual psychotherapy. While some individual
psychotherapy is provided, the "treatment of choice" is
generally group psychotherapy.
Psychopharmacology
The focus of this service is on treating those individuals dually
challenged by both psychiatric and addiction disorders. In order
to be eligible for ongoing medication management, individuals must
be engaged in some form of outpatient treatment through the Outpatient
Addiction Service - either individual or group.
Case Management
Assistance in accessing community services and supports is also
provided.

How
to access care:
Our
"walk-in intake" service is on Mon/Tue/Thur/Fri
at 12:00 noon
Clients
get a comprehensive intake assessment to match them to the
most appropriate level of care.
If
clients are unable to be seen on the day he/she arrives for
an intake, we offer a "Drop-In" Informational Group
at 1:00 PM, provided at no charge.
This
group provides clients with information on treatment options,
general support to those seeking treatment, and information
about self-help supports that are more immediately available.
Prospective
patients are encouraged to keep attending the "Drop-In"
until they are seen for an intake.
