Cambridge Health Alliance Receives Breastfeeding Award from Mass. Department of Public Health
Cambridge, MA...Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) announced
today that CHA's Cambridge Hospital campus has received a Breastfeeding
Achievement Award from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The award, honoring the hospital's Maternity Services unit, was
presented at the Massachusetts Breastfeeding Coalition's annual
conference, held recently at the Massachusetts Medical Society in
Waltham, Mass.
The award recognizes CHA's outstanding breastfeeding initiation
rates, as more than 90 percent of mothers in care breastfeed after
delivery. Additionally, CHA was commended for eliminating the distribution
of formula company discharge bags. According to the Department of
Public Health, promoting and supporting early breastfeeding is essential
to long-term breastfeeding success. CHA's attention and dedication
to providing quality lactation care impacts the health and well-being
of mothers and their newborns for years to come.
For more information on CHA's Maternity Services, call the Cambridge
Women's Health Center at 617-665-2800.
