NEWS FROM CAMBRIDGE HEALTH ALLIANCE
CEO OF CAMBRIDGE HEALTH ALLIANCE WEIGHS IN ON HEALTH REFORM
Cambridge Health Alliance’s CEO, Dennis D. Keefe, commends the Senate and
House leaders for reaching consensus on a groundbreaking healthcare reform
package, planned to come up for a floor vote today.
According to Keefe: “The legislation is truly paving the way for expanded
health care coverage for hundreds of thousands of currently uninsured
residents, and providing the foundation for improved access and health care
quality for all. As one of the largest safety net health systems in the
Commonwealth, providing health care and insurance coverage for the
uninsured is a core part of our mission.
Great emphasis was given to new initiatives that will help the current
uninsured move to health insurance coverage, and we look forward to playing
a major role in making this successful. As health care reform is
implemented, we will work in partnership with the state to offer new
innovative subsidized insurance products to low-income residents through
our Medicaid managed care plan toward this goal.
Senate President Travaglini, Speaker DiMasi, the Health Care Conference
Committee and local legislators have devised a novel health care reform
bill, establishing Massachusetts as a national model for significant health
care coverage expansions and other reforms. We are grateful for their
vision and support," concludes Keefe.
Cambridge Health Alliance is an innovative, award-winning health
system that provides high quality care in Cambridge, Somerville,
Everett, Revere, and Boston's Metro-North communities. It includes
