The Internal Medicine Residency at Cambridge Health Alliance
focuses on both the care of the patient and the growth of the resident.
The rigorous clinical and balanced didactic experiences give residents
the skill, knowledge, and attitudes to excel in the practice of
internal medicine.
This training program emphasizes excellence in all competencies:
Patient Care, Medical Knowledge, Practice Based Learning, Professionalism,
Interpersonal and Communication Skills, and System-based Practice.
Residents can choose subspecialty electives at any of the Harvard-affiliated
tertiary care hospitals. Individualized training experiences also
allow each Resident to explore his/her own special interests.
House officers have appointments as "Clinical Fellow in Medicine"
at Harvard Medical School and have access to the Countway Medical
Library, all athletic facilities and housing services. Graduates
of our program in the past decade have pursued varied career paths
in clinical medicine, general medicine research and public health.
Over 80 percent are engaged in primary care practice at least part
time, with one-third of them practicing in underserved areas. Of
those who have pursued advanced training, a large plurality has
completed fellowships in general medicine, or post-graduate training
in occupational medicine and public health. One in five remain within
the local communities served by the Alliance.
There are many reasons why the Cambridge Health Alliance Internal
Medicine Residency is the right choice for tomorrow's medical leaders.
