Cambridge
Health Alliance is governed by a 19-member Board of Trustees
appointed by the City Manager of Cambridge, MA. In accordance with
the enabling statute which created Cambridge Health Alliance (Commonwealth
of Massachusetts' Chapter 147 of the Acts and Resolves of 1996),
at least 2/3 of board membership shall be residents of the City
of Cambridge with the remaining membership composed of residents
from Somerville, the CEO (ex officio), a representative from the
CHA medical staff, and two City of Cambridge officers or employees.
Members volunteer their time and expertise to further the mission,
vision, and values of Cambridge Health Alliance.
Mary Cassesso (Chair) has served
as the Dean for Administration and Finance at the Harvard School
of Dental Medicine for the past 14 years. She is responsible for
the School's strategic planning and has been instrumental in stabilizing
the School's financial position and reaffirming its commitment to
discovery. Prior to her role at Harvard, Ms. Cassesso served as
an Assistant Cabinet Secretary for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts'
affordable housing program, as the Deputy Director of the Metropolitan
Boston Housing Partnership, and as the City Auditor for the City
of Somerville.
Ms. Cassesso was the recipient of the Harvard Medical School's
Dean's Leadership Award for the Advancement of Women in 2005 and
the Diversity Award in 2000. She has served as the Chair and Co-Chair
of the HMS/HSDM Joint Council on the Status of Women. In addition
to her commitment as a trustee and member of the Executive board
of Cambridge Health Alliance, she continues to serve as the Managing
Trustee of the Somerville Affordable Housing Trust Fund. Ms. Cassesso
holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors, and a Master's degree
in Public Administration from Northeastern University.

Ellen Semonoff (Vice-Chair) is Assistant
City Manager of Human Services for the City of Cambridge. She is
responsible for the leadership and day-to-day management of the
City's twenty -three million dollar Human Services Department, including
child care programs, community and youth programs, substance abuse
programs, services to homeless residents, workforce development
programs, recreation programs, fuel assistance and summer nutrition
programs, services to and programs for seniors and disabled residents.
She received her Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University and her
Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School. Ms. Semonoff resides in
Cambridge.

Nancy Busnach is the President of
Busnach Associates. She possesses more than 25 years of experience
in facilities/asset management and construction. Busnach Associates
provides corporate real estate project management services including
assistance in site selection, overseeing design, construction, budget
and building management coordination. Ms Busnach received her Bachelor
of Science from Suffolk University and is actively involved in the
Somerville community currently serving as Chairperson for the Somerville
Redevelopment Authority, a member of the Board of Directors of the
Somerville Chamber of Commerce, Board of Trustees for the St. Clement
School, and is a member of the Somerville Kiwanis Club. She is past
Chair of Groundworks Somerville, Aquinas College, and the Boys and
Girls Club of Somerville. Ms. Busnach resides in Somerville.

Louis DePasquale is Assistant City
Manager for Fiscal Affairs/Finance Director for the City of Cambridge.
In this role he is responsible for the fiscal operations of the
City and provides leadership for the following functions: Budget,
Personnel, Assessing, Purchasing, Treasury, Revenue and Information
Technology. Prior to being promoted into this position in 2002,
Mr. DePasquale served as the City's treasury analyst, budget analyst,
and budget director. During his tenure, the City has enjoyed an
excellent financial position and has received a triple AAA bond
rating from the three major credit rating agencies. Mr. DePasquale
is a member of the City's Capital Improvement Budget Committee,
the Cambridge Kids' Council, the Metropolitan Mayor's Coalition
Finance Committee, and the Community Preservation Act Committee
(CPA). Mr. DePasquale is a life-long Cambridge resident and a graduate
of Matignon High School, Boston State College, and received his
Masters Degree in Public Administration from Northeastern University.

Francis H. Duehay has a long history
of involvement in Cambridge public life. His 36 years as a Cambridge
elected official included three terms as Mayor. Having served on
many Cambridge non-profit organizations, he is currently a Director
of the Cambridge Community Foundation and a corporation member of
The Cambridge Homes, a non-profit assisted living community.
Duehay has also served as an Assistant Dean and Lecturer at the
Harvard Graduate School of Education, as Director of the Lincoln
Filene Center at Tufts University and as a Fellow of the Institute
of Politics at Harvard's JFK School of Government. He graduated
from Cambridge public schools and holds three degrees from Harvard
University.

Dennis D. Keefe is the Chief Executive
Officer of Cambridge Health Alliance. Mr. Keefe possesses thirty
years of experience in a variety of health care settings. Over his
career, he has worked in Greater Boston's best academic teaching
facilities and community hospitals. With experience as both Chief
Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, he has a depth and
breadth of experience seldom seen in Senior Executives. He currently
serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge Health Alliance.
This is Mr. Keefe's second tour of duty at Cambridge Health Alliance.
He worked at the Alliance as an Associate Administrator of Professional
Services from 1986 to 1988, and returned as Chief Operating Officer
in February of 2000. During Mr. Keefe's most recent tenure as COO,
he was a key leader, managing the day-to-day operations of what
was then a $350 Million Integrated Healthcare Delivery System; currently,
the Alliance has grown to a $700 Million Integrated Healthcare Delivery
System.
Mr. Keefe is a highest honors graduate of Northeastern University
where he received the Dean's Citation Award as the top student in
the Health Sciences Program. Mr. Keefe also possesses a Masters
in Business Administration, with a focus in Health Care Administration,
from Northeastern University and recently was honored as the 2005
Alumnus of the Year by Northeastern University.
Mr. Keefe is a member of the HealthCare Financial Management Association,
the American College of Healthcare Executives, and the HealthCare
Management Association and serves on the executive committees of
the National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems
and the Massachusetts Hospital Association

Lucian L. Leape, MD is an Adjunct Professor
of Health Policy at the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH).
Prior to joining the faculty at HSPH, he was Professor of Surgery
and Chief of Pediatric Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine
and Tufts-New England Medical Center. Dr. Leape was a lead investigator
of the Harvard Medical Practice Study and several other studies
that helped start the patient safety movement. He participated in
the founding of several patient safety organizations including the
National Patient Safety Foundation and the Massachusetts Coalition
for the Prevention of Medical Errors. In 2006, he was named one
of the 30 most influential people in health care over the past 30
years by Modern Healthcare. He is a graduate of Cornell University
and Harvard Medical School, and resides in Cambridge.

Carol VanDeusen Lukas is an investigator
and member of the executive team at the Center for Organization,
Leadership and Management Research (COLMR) in the Health Services
Research and Development Service (HSR&D) of the Department of
Veteran Affairs (VA). At HSR&D she has led studies in facility
integration, health systems integration, and has developed and implemented
strategies to sustain and spread innovative clinical practices from
the national to local level. Dr. VanDeusen Lukas is a faculty member
in the Health Services Department at the Boston University School
of Public Health. She has served as an assistant commissioner at
both the Massachusetts Department of Medical Security and the Massachusetts
Department of Public Welfare. Dr. VanDeusen Lukas has a doctorate
from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a master's degree
in social psychology from the University of Wisconsin. Ms. Lukas
resides in Cambridge.

Isaac M. Machado, JD is an attorney
with the firm, Epstein, Lipsey & Clifford, P.C. Prior to joining
this firm, he served the Deputy Chief Counsel for the Massachusetts
Highway Department, Boston. He was an Adjunct Professor at Wentworth
Institute of Technology and he is fluent in Portuguese. He graduated
from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and went on to earn
his JD at Seton Hall University of Law. He is the Past President
of the Board for the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers.
Mr. Machado also serves as on the Board of Directors of the Cambridge
Portuguese Credit Union and is an Election Commissioner for the
City of Somerville.

Steve Manos was instrumental in the
shaping of Tufts University. Prior to his retirement in late 2007,
Mr. Manos served as Tufts University's Executive Vice President
for 26 years. In his capacity as Executive Vice President, Mr. Manos
was responsible for many of Tufts' operational aspects, including
finance, budgeting, human resources, construction, internal auditing,
real estate, risk management, legal, and institutional research.
Prior to Tufts, Mr. Manos served in various capacities including
Assistant Executive Director of the American Bar Association, Assistant
District Attorney in New York County, and Chief Executive Officer
of the Manhattan Bowery Corporation.
Mr. Manos received his Master of Public Administration from New
York University Graduate School of Public Administration, his Juris
Doctorate from New York University School of Law, and his Bachelor
of Arts from the University of Minnesota.

Jane Metzger is a research director
at First Consulting (FCG), in its applied research arm - Emerging
Practices. Ms. Metzger has been doing research and consulting in
all aspects of computer support for healthcare delivery for the
past 34 years. Her focus has been on IT support to the direct care
process, especially IT for physicians at the point of care in both
the ambulatory and inpatient settings. Ms. Metzger is a Director
in Emerging Practices, FCG's applied research arm. Emerging Practices
is charged with keeping the company abreast of industry and technology
trends and with developing knowledge and tools for use in client
engagements. She conducts both internal and external research and
consulting funded by healthcare organizations, foundations, and
vendors. Prior to joining FCG in 1996, Ms. Metzger worked for 24
years at Arthur D. Little, Inc., in the healthcare technology practice.
Ms. Metzger resides in Cambridge.

Paula A. Paris is the Deputy Director
for JFYNetWorks, Boston's largest workforce and career development
center for youths and adults. In her capacity as Deputy Director,
Ms. Paris is responsible for institutional advancement, contract
compliance, strategic planning and operations for JFYNetWorks. Before
joining JFYNetWorks, Ms. Paris served as Director of Development
for Jobs for Youth-Boston, inc. and as Director of Development for
Cambridge Friends School.
Ms. Paris also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Southern
New Hampshire University's School of Community Economic Development.
Ms. Paris is the Development Committee Chair for the Cambridge
Historical Society and is a member of the Alumni Board of the Heller
School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.
Ms. Paris received her Master of Management in Human Services from
the Heller School and her Bachelor's degree in Music from the University
of Hartford's Hartt College of Music.

Joshua Posner has developed affordable
housing over 25 years in a wide variety of settings in New England
and other parts of the United States. Mr. Posner founded Rising
Tide Development LLC in 2001 to focus on the creation of new small-scale,
mixed-income residential communities in Massachusetts. Prior to
Rising Tide Development, Mr. Posner played a number of senior roles
over 12 years at The Community Builders, a leading regional and
national nonprofit developer of affordable housing. He has specialized
in the construction and rehabilitation of community-based housing,
the preservation of affordable housing nearing the end of its regulatory
period, and the redevelopment of large-scale dilapidated public
housing projects in various locations around the country. In 1998,
Mr. Posner served as President of Cornerstone Housing, a private
development firm focused on public housing revitalization, and from
1999 through 2000, he served as Vice President of Development for
Trinity Financial, Inc. in Boston.
Mr. Posner has been engaged in a variety of community activities,
including serving a Board President and Director of The Guidance
Center, the largest mental health and family support social service
organization in Cambridge and Somerville, Board President and Overseer
of Shady Hill School in Cambridge, and in various roles for the
Democratic Party.

Maxwell D. Solet is a member of the
law firm Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, PC, in Boston.
He joined the firm in 1979. Mr. Solet has served as chairman of
the Tax Section of the Boston Bar Association. He is currently chairman
of the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Committee on Tax Exempt
and Government Entities. He is also a member of the Steering Committee
of the Bond Attorneys Workshop of the National Association of Bond
Lawyers. He graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School.
He has served as a board member, secretary, and currently vice-president
of the Cambridge Historical Society.

Jonathan Stearns is an independent
financial consultant and has held a variety financial management
positions at Digital Equipment Corporation and Eastern Gas and Fuel
Associates. Mr. Stearns is a Certified Public Accountant and holds
a Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University, a Masters in Business
Administration from Harvard Business School and a Masters of Science
in Taxation from Bentley College. He also has served as Treasurer
of the Tufts University Alumni Association.

Deborah Klein Walker, EdD, is a Vice
President and Principal Associate in the Health Division at Abt
Associates, Inc., Cambridge. She previously was the Associate Commissioner
at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. She is the president
of the American Public Health Association (APHA). Dr. Walker is
an Adjunct Professor of Maternal and Child Health at Boston University
and an Adjunct Lecturer at the Harvard School of Public Health.
She earned her doctorate and masters in human development at the
Harvard Graduate School of Education and is a graduate of Mount
Holyoke College.

Ronald M. Weintraub, MD is a Cardiothoracic
Surgeon at Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) and David S. Ginsburg
Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Harvard Medical
School. Dr. Weintraub recently stepped down as Chief of Surgery
at CHA. He had previously helped establish and served as the first
chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Beth Israel
Hospital (now the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center). Dr. Weintraub
is also a consultant for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
and holds a board position on CHA's Alliance Foundation for Community
Health. He is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical
School.
