WIC Foods

If eligible, WIC participants will receive checks to purchase foods such as: milk, cheese, eggs, peanut butter, dried beans/peas, iron-fortified cereals, 100% fruit juice, iron fortified formula (and tuna and carrots for breastfeeding women).

Effectiveness of WIC - Health Outcomes:

For Women:
WIC produces healthier mothers and healthier babies. When women eat better and receive early prenatal care, their babies have less health problems.

For Infants:
Babies born to WIC mothers weigh more, grow faster and develop better.

For Children:
Children on WIC eat foods with more iron and vitamin C, which helps them develop strong minds and bodies. They are more likely to have regular medical care and to receive their immunizations which protects them against disease.
